During their stay at the Center, Bogliasco Fellows and accompanying spouses/partners are provided with living quarters (bedroom with private bath) and full board. Fellows are assigned separate private studios. When requested in advance, study facilities for spouses/partners may be made available, either in one of the studios or within their living quarters.
The cost of transportation to and from Genoa is the responsibility of Fellows or their accompanying spouses/partners. So also are all other personal expenses incurred during the fellowship period, including the purchase of materials and equipment.
Children cannot be accommodated at the Study Center. Pets are not allowed. Visits by friends, colleagues, or family members are not allowed, except by special, prior arrangement.
“Never before had I experienced such perfect conditions for concentrated creative thinking and working. The breathtaking beauty of the site is at once profoundly stimulating and soothing, an inspiration for creative work as well as a source of enchantment and consolation in moments of artistic self-doubt. The beauty and variety of the landscape, light, and sea provide a perfect counterbalance to the internal struggles of music composition.
And the marvelous fellowship of an intimate group of colleagues, all engaged in similarly intensive artistic, literary, and scholarly projects, provides another kind of counterbalance to artistic work. To be in an environment of such accomplished people was in itself extremely stimulating; and to end each day in the company of respected colleagues — almost instantly friends — a quotidian pleasure.”
